María González Cárdenas was born in raised in Texas. She migrated with her family to Idaho decades ago. She currently lives in Boise, ID. She graduated from Minidoka County High School after her family settled in Heyburn, ID. She received her Master of Business Administration and her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education-Bilingual/Multicultural from Boise State University. María began her community activism as a junior in high school and has worked for state and federal government plus for various non-profit organizations. She is passionate about issues affecting Idaho’s Latinx community. She owns Power of Translation and is currently working (with Dr. Emily Wakild) on Nosotras-Latinas in Idaho, a book (English and Spanish) profiling 50 Latinas of Mexican descent and their contributions to Idaho. The book is scheduled to be available during latter 2023.
