I grew up in Syracuse, New York. I earned a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Communications from Cornell University in 1996 and spent a year working in scientific journalism before returning to school for my master’s degree. I received my M.A. in Physical Education from Indiana State University in 1999 and worked in the fitness industry for 2 years before starting medical school. I obtained my M.D. from the University of Toledo School of Medicine in 2005 and completed my residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Ypsilanti, Michigan in 2008, and completed a Chief Resident year in 2009.

I married an Idaho native while in medical school (my husband Tim Nelson is an outpatient internist with St. Luke’s) and moved to Boise in 2009. I have been a hospitalist at Saint Alphonsus since 2009 and have always been involved in medical education. I am excited to be a member of the Full Circle Health Board and hope to improve opportunities and be an advocate for FCH within Saint Alphonsus Health System.
