Shalimar Burwell, MD
Nampa ProgramClass of 2026
Dr. Shalimar Burwell grew up in rural southern Missouri until she was 11 years old, at which time her family relocated to Idaho to be closer to extended family. She attended the College of Idaho earning a BS in Biology. After graduation, she worked for six years as a research scientist before deciding on a career in medicine aligned more with her passions and goals.
She attended Saba University for medical school, located on a very small island called Saba in the Caribbean. She then completed clinical rotations throughout the US, from LA to Miami and many places in between. This was a wonderful opportunity to see how different health care systems operate throughout the US, however Shalimar is thrilled to continue her training in her home state and community. Shalimar’s interests within family medicine include caring for underserved communities, women’s health, lifestyle medicine, and international medicine.
She and her husband, Adam, met while volunteering with the youth group at their church and married in 2013. They enjoy traveling, playing board games, and making fusion glass art together. Shalimar is an avid baker and likes to ensure everyone has a homemade treat on their birthday.
