Samantha Portenier, MD
Program Director CaldwellSamantha Portenier was born in Ontario, Oregon and grew up in northern Idaho. She went to undergraduate school on a rodeo scholarship and after graduating from Lewis Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho did a year of graduate research at the University of Idaho before going to medical school at the University of Nevada, School of Medicine. In Nevada, she focused on primary care and rural medicine and returned to Idaho to do residency at the Caldwell Rural Training Track. After graduation in 2000, she joined the faculty of the family medicine residency and became the site director of the Caldwell Rural Training Track in 2004. She completed her specialized training as Program Director in 2013. When not at work, she is active with her family ranching, training performance horses and traveling to her three children’s rodeos where they participate.
