Matthew Messerschmidt, MD
2012-2013Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Matthew earned a B.A. in Environmental Studies at Washington University St. Louis. After a year of pounding nails in California’s Central Valley, he moved on to medical and public health school at the UCSF/UC Berkeley Joint Medical Program. There, his masters thesis involved GIS mapping of local Farmer’s Markets to assess availability of healthy foods and experiences at San Francisco General Hospital first shaped his interest in HIV. He completed residency at Full Circle Health where he was awarded the Resident Teaching Award. Matthew learned Spanish during medical school and has traveled and volunteered throughout Latin America working in a variety of public health and clinical capacities. He currently enjoys Boise’s incredible access to kayaking, skiing, climbing, and ridiculously cheap west coast indie music.
