Jose Bolaños, MD

Nampa Program
Class of 2026

Dr. Jose Bolaños comes from a third generation of doctors in Central America, he was born and raised in a small industrial city of Honduras called San Pedro Sula. He’s the eldest of three sons, his father was a pediatric surgeon, and his mother is a licensed nurse. His two younger siblings decided to pursue their dreams in culinary school while he followed his father’s foots steps into health care. After getting his degree with a Bachelor’s in Science and Letters from La Salle, he joined Medical School in the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH) and graduated in 2016 at the age of 25. Jose has had a strong passion for medicine since a young age which overlaps to many areas of his life, around his second/third year of medical school he started working with a Idaho/Oregon based Non-Profit Organization called Faith and Humanity Medical Missions, which focuses in providing medical care in rural areas of Honduras, where he now is part of the Executive Board and the official In Country Liaison.

By working and providing medical care in places of extreme need, Jose recognizes the importance of primary care as a human right and a stronghold for every community, this being a major driver for him pursuing a generalist pathway as a Family Medicine Doctor.

He moved into Idaho in October of 2021, after he got hired as a Patient Safety Specialist for St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, where he met his beautiful fiancé Monica in May of 2022. Together they look forward to becoming a part of our local community with him as a provider and her as an elementary school teacher.

Besides medicine, he enjoys eating, snowboarding, technological gadgets and anything involving strength training and powerlifting.
