Sol Bockelie, MD

Sol realized his deep passion for family medicine after enrolling in the Escuela latinoamericana de medicina / Latin American School of Medicine in Havana, Cuba. It was in this program that he was able to develop his views on what medicine ought to be: healthcare is a human right; education and prevention are fundamental aspects of health and wellness; and emphasis on the importance of the biopsychosocial-environmental-spiritual model when treating and caring for patients, their families and the community is essential.

Within family medicine, Sol is interested in working and growing with patients and their families, lifestyle, addiction medicine, wilderness medicine, public health and advocacy.

Sol grew up in Bremerton, WA and attended college at the University of Washington where he majored in political science while working in labs and taking pre-med courses. After graduating he worked for 5 years on malaria vaccine studies before realizing that working more closely with patients, families and their communities was what he desired in a medical career.

While not in the clinic or hospital, Sol enjoys playing sous-chef to his partner, David, in the kitchen, training for marathons, CrossFit, hiking and Soto Zen sits.

Sol is thrilled to make Nampa his and his partner’s home and is looking forward to serving our patient population.
